Summer’s here and we’re not loving it :)
Neither one of us likes the heat so trips to the park are at a minimum. We did get a great breezy day –
One thing I’ve noticed is Tai’s complete behavioral change WRT to fireworks and thunder. She used to be terrified of both and would sit next to me, shaking uncontrollably and wouldn’t stop unless she was wedged between me and the chair. Since her surgery (and this is was her first 4th of July post-surgery, though we’ve had a few thunderstorms) she is totally unconcerned. She may lift her head and listen, but that’s it. I’m happy about this for her but wonder if anyone else had something similar happen?
We had a great morning at the farmer’s market, and even though she did a huge poop BEFORE going, she did another one while walking around! What manners 😀 luckily I was prepared.
She is snoozing now with her head hanging off her bed, which is a position she likes though she has rolled off of the bed a couple of times. We’re fully carpeted but she always looks at me like it is my fault, LOL. If I see her tilting, I try to gently wake and move her and that’s my fault as well. This is the bed she has rolled off of.

Okay, I shouldn’t laugh because you keep falling off the bed and get irritated with your Mom when she tries to intervene! Thank goodness it’s not that big of a tumble!
Well, I’ve never heard of fear of thunderstorms and loud fireworks being reversed, but leave it to Tai to be the first!! This is certainly an unusual “silver lining” of this journey! 🙂
Seeing pictures of you makes us have an exceptionally happy Summer!! 🙂

Hee heee, leave it to our doggies to take a dump at the market! We’ve been there too, and totally embarrassed. Yay for plastic bags to the rescue.
Interesting observation about the fireworks. Usually the opposite occurs, a dog gets more anxious about things like that. But I’m wondering, do you treat fireworks and noise any differently? Have you become more non-chalant around them? If so, that could be rubbing off on Tai. I say run with it! Wish our Wyatt Ray had that reaction.

I don’t think I’ve changed my behavior; I always remain where I’m sitting and act like it’s no biggie – it’s interesting, we had an enormous clap of thunder the other day and she got off the bed for that one and walked over to me (I was sitting at the table). She wasn’t shaking (pre-surgery, she would have been vibrating) and then walked back to her bed and lay down again!
Whatever it is, I’m happy there’s less stress for her!
